What to Expect from a Mommy Makeover

Dr. Lee Colony  In: Mommy Makeover

The mommy makeover is a popular procedure to help women restore their pre-baby figures. While this procedure is great for boosting self-confidence, helping women to better fit into their clothes, and feel more comfortable in intimate situations, it is not an answer to all of your problems. Read on to learn about what this procedure CAN and CAN’T do.

A Mommy Makeover CAN:

Tighten the Abdomen:  A tummy tuck can remove excess skin and fat deposits on the abdomen, as well as tighten weakened abdominal muscles for a tighter, smoother abdominal contour.

Remove Stubborn Fat: Liposuction is often part of the mommy makeover procedure to remove stubborn areas of fat. Popular treatment areas include the abdomen, love handles, thighs, and hips.

Augment the Breasts: Breast augmentation is often a part of the mommy makeover, and can help to increase the size of the breasts using breast implants.

Lift the Breasts: A breast augmentation can be done to restore a perkier, more youthful positioning of the breasts.

Reduce the Breasts: For women who are living with breasts that are too large for their bodies, a breast reduction can remove excess breast tissue and skin. This can help women to feel more comfortable, as well as eliminate back and neck pain caused by large breasts.

Restore Feminine Confidence: Feminine rejuvenation via labiaplasty is a popular choice among mothers, for a boost in confidence. This procedure can restore the vaginal area following pregnancy.

A Mommy Makeover CAN’T:

Be Used as a Weight Loss Solution: The procedures included in a mommy makeover are meant to sculpt and contour the body, and are not meant to be used for weight loss alone. It is recommended that mommy makeover candidates be within 10% of their ideal body weight.

Perform Magic: A mommy makeover is meant to help you be the best version of yourself. It is not meant to create a “perfect” body, or make you look like someone else.

Turn Back Time: This procedure cannot turn back the clock, making you look dramatically younger than you are. A mommy makeover can do a lot to restore your pre-pregnancy body, but it cannot make you look like you did during your teenage years.

Save a Marriage: Some women believe that undergoing a mommy makeover will help to resolve marital problems. If your marriage is already strained, surgery is not going to help it. This is also not a good reason to undergo surgery.
