Deep lines and wrinkles across the forehead and relaxation of skin around the eyes are some of the most visible and troubling signs of aging. Injectable substances can be effective in reducing forehead wrinkles but the results are only temporary. Many forehead wrinkles can, however, be corrected through a more permanent method using a surgical procedure known as a brow lift.

Like most facial surgical procedures, patients are usually put to sleep during the procedure. To perform a brow lift, tiny incisions are made in the scalp, and muscles and skin are tightened and reshaped to lift the forehead, smoothing wrinkles in the process. Although brow lifts can be performed by a traditional method using one long incision, most use a series of tiny incisions for an endoscopic brow lift. Regardless of the method that is chosen, the procedure can typically be completed in about two hours and patients are able to return home the same day. The length of recovery varies on a case-by-case basis, but most patients do experience slight swelling and bruising of the forehead for a few days up to a week following surgery. It is not uncommon for bruising and swelling to extend as far below the forehead as the cheeks. Swelling and bruising can be managed using ice packs, and pain can be relieved through the use of painkillers as directed. In Lansing, after a procedure, most patients can return to work within two weeks or so.
