Morpheus8 in East Lansing

Do you want smoother, tighter skin without the need for extensive downtime or surgery? Morpheus8’s new fractional radiofrequency therapy may be a perfect solution for nearly any of your facial skin concerns.

What Is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a new technology that combines the benefits of microneedling and radiofrequency energy for collagen stimulation. Safe for all skin types, Morpheus8 distributes radiofrequency (RF) energy through the tiny pins of the device, which fractionally creates channels up to 8 millimeters deep in the skin.

Both the microchanneling of the skin and the radiofrequency energy that gently warms it stimulates the deep layers of the dermis, encouraging collagen and elastin production for long-lasting skin tightening and anti-aging benefits.

What Can Morpheus8 Treat?

Morpheus8 is capable of treating both specific issues such as wrinkles or scars as well as providing a general enhancement in skin appearance. Concerns in the face and neck that Morpheus8 can benefit from include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Large pores
  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Loose or thin skin
  • Active acne
  • Surgical and acne scars
  • Small blood capillaries

The Morpheus8 Procedure

Each treatment session of Morpheus8 requires careful preparation to be the most effective and safe procedure for patients. In the weeks before your scheduled session, Dr. Colony will give you specific instructions for what to avoid, like tanning, smoking, and using certain products and medications.

The procedure itself begins with an application of a topical anesthetic that is left on for 30 minutes to ensure your comfort. Then, Dr. Colony or a nurse will pass the Morpheus8 handpiece over the desired treatment area, often making multiple passes per treatment. This can cause a tingling or burning sensation, which can linger for up to an hour after the procedure is over.

You are free to drive yourself home after treatment, although you will experience redness and a feeling similar to sunburn following treatment for one to three days. Some patients enjoy satisfactory results from just one session, but a typical treatment program consists of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Every Morpheus8 treatment is tailored to each unique individual, and results may vary from person to person.

Results and Recovery

Most patients can expect to start noticing results from a Morpheus8 treatment around three to four weeks after their final treatment session. These results, driven by increased collagen production in the skin can continue to improve for up to three months.

In the days immediately following a treatment session, the skin may crust and peel for up to a week, while visible track marks will fade during this time. Michigan Plastic Surgery will provide Aquaphor that should be applied for the first two days, after which patients can return to their normal, gentle moisturizer. It’s important not to scrape or pick at the skin as it heals, or expose the skin to heat or the sun.

For the longest-lasting and most beneficial results, wear a high-SPF broad-spectrum sunscreen and limit sun exposure when possible. Eating a nutritious diet also improves and protects skin health, as does creating a proper skincare routine.
