Abdominoplasties remove excess skin thereby reducing your weight by one to two pant sizes on average. However, candidates for the tummy tuck should already be around their ideal weight since tummy tucks are not a weight loss treatment option and should not be used as such.

Can you lose weight after a tummy tuck?

Yes, a small amount of weight can be lost due to the removal of excess skin tissue. However, a tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure. Therefore, patients should be within 10-15 lbs of their ideal weight before surgery.
