Dr. Lee Colony In: Morpheus8
Able to treat the most common and widespread skincare concerns, the Morpheus8 microneedling device is a powerful tool that can help you achieve a refreshed appearance without a long recovery time. We field questions about this treatment all the time at Michigan Plastic Surgery™, and we’re here to help you achieve a beautiful complexion at any age.
Morpheus8 is a sophisticated microneedling device that combines the benefits of traditional microneedling treatments with radiofrequency (RF) technology. Microneedling provides significant and long-lasting benefits when it comes to tightening skin, reducing the size of pores, and spurring the production of collagen.
By also delivering RF energy to the skin through the device’s tiny pins, Morpheus8 is able to accomplish all those goals while also improving the uniformity of results when treating skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, and even scarring.
This technology works by selectively wounding the skin to stimulate an overhauled healing response. Over time, this process creates a new, clear, healthy layer of skin to replace what’s currently on the surface.
This minimally invasive technology is excellent at addressing any area on the face or body that would benefit from skin, tissue, and collagen enhancement. This refers to the process of stimulating collagen production to tighten skin and achieve a smoother, more even texture in your specific problem area. It is especially useful for treating facial wrinkles and folds, as well as excess skin on the neck or elsewhere on the body.
A treatment session with Morpheus8 takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Our team will first apply a topical numbing cream to your face to ensure you’ll be as comfortable as possible. Patients have described the treatment as mildly uncomfortable, with skin feeling like a sun burn for a day or two.
We will instruct you on what to change about your skincare routine, as your skin will be more sensitive than usual for a few days after Morpheus8 treatment. It will likely be red and tender to the touch, so you may choose to avoid social situations if possible. It’s important stay out of the sun and use extra protection, as your healing tissue and skin will be especially sensitive to sun damage.
You’ll be able to see some results as soon as three or four weeks following Morpheus8 treatment, as the skin begins to show the signs of increased collagen production and a new layer of skin. These results will continue to improve up to two months after your treatment session, at which time some patients may need to schedule another session to further enhance their results.
Depending on your problem area and degree of rejuvenation desired, you will likely benefit from multiple Morpheus8 sessions. Dr. Colony says that mild lines and textural issues can be treated in one session, but for skin laxity, scars, and deeper wrinkles, you may need as many as three sessions. The best way to know what your unique Morpheus8 treatment plan will be is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Colony.
